- "Working with Missy helped me realize I was so busy trying to prove everyone else wrong when I should have been concentrating on proving myself right. She believed in me. Now I believe in myself."
- ―Wild Card on controlling his powers[src]
Wild Card is one of the main characters in We Can Be Heroes.
Appearance[]
Wild Card is a young teenager around thirteen, with thick brown hair, brown eyes, and a mischievous smile. He wears dark clothing and a military dog tag.
Personality[]
Wild Card is introduced as the young Heroics fearless leader, with a jaded edge that makes him appear unfriendly. He isn't shy about voicing his opinion on Missy or her leadership skills, though he comes to respect her. He is witty and sarcastic, often calling others out on their behavior. His inability to control his powers served as an insecurity as he desperately tries to prove everyone wrong about him being unable to help. Wild Card can be incredibly focused when he chooses to be, and just needs a little boost to discover his full potential.
History[]
Background[]
Wild Card is the only child of the superhero Tech-No and was placed in a special school due to his superpowers. He is well-known in the superhero community and the self-appointed leader of the children of The Heroics.
We Can Be Heroes[]
Powers and Abilities[]
Wild Card has the unique superhuman ability to generate any type of power in the known world. He can grant himself any power he wishes by using a verbal command. He initially struggled to control his powers and would manifest something completely different than what he was commanding, such as causing his textbook to light on fire instead of teleportation. He later mastered them by believing in himself. He can make himself teleport, shape shift, fly, generate electricity through his fingers, and freeze things by pointing his finger.
Relationships[]
Missy Moreno[]
Wild Card initially teased Missy for not having any powers, reminding her and the team of this when he could. She had very little patience for his sarcastic remarks and teasing. She could be condescending towards him. He didn't like that she exhibited strong leadership qualities and had ideas that conflicted with his. It wasn't until she told him that Ojo was an alien that he accepted her as the leader, finally having seen that she is, in fact, capable of leading the team. They kept up the charade of arguing for the sake of their grander plan. She sympathizes with him feeling as though he has to prove himself to everyone who looks up to him. In many ways, his inability to control his powers and her lack of powers, allowed them to reach an understanding. It is through Missy believing in him, that Wild Card believes in himself and controls his powers.
Trivia[]
- Wild Card's father is the superhero Tech-No, played by Heathers and Mr. Robot star Christian Slater
- Despite being the son of Tech-No, Wild Card has several similarities with Miracle Guy (Wheels' father):
- Both have a wide variety of powers that make them the most powerful members of The Heroics of their respective generations.
- Due to their abilities they have a big ego and can become conceited, convinced that they are the best.
- They may initially look down on their teammates, but stop when they realize the danger of the situation and begin to value them.
- Although they can be hostile deep down, they have a good heart and care about their loved ones.
