Appearance[]

Marcus has short brown hair that is longer on the top, almond-shaped brown eyes, and a strong facial structure. He has a minimal jaw facial hair but dons a mustache. He is of moderate height but remains one of the taller Heroics. While fighting crime, he wears a black armored outfit and wields dual katanas. In street clothing, he prefers relaxed clothes and darker toned colors.

Personality[]

Marcus is a brave and honest man who tries his hardest to stay true to his word. He believes that a deal is honorable and breaking it brings dishonor to the person who made it. He cares deeply for Missy and is protective over her, wanting what is best for her well-being. He demonstrates strong leadership skills and intellect, as he is the first Heroic to realize the full size of the alien armada. Despite his strong resolve, he follows commands given to him by his superior officer, Ms. Granada, even though following those commands broke his deal with Missy. In the end, Marcus is a proud father who disapproves of conflict amongst his teammates.

History[]

Background[]

Marcus was once married to an unnamed woman and they had a daughter together, Missy. He was also a member of the superhero team The Heroics, and eventually served as the leader of the team. After his wife's death, Marcus made a deal with Missy to remain the leader of The Heroics but as a non-active combatant. He would sit out several missions and help the team from the safety of his desk at Heroic Headquarters.

We Can Be Heroes[]

WCBH Marcus Missy

Marcus watches the latest news report that shows Miracle Guy being put in an ambulance following a plummet from the sky. Marcus uses his communicative bracelet to tell his daughter, Missy, that it's almost time for school. As she joins him in the kitchen he is absent-mindedly cracking eggs - into the wrong bowls, of course. Their morning chit-chat turns serious when she sees the news report, but he assures her that it's probably just a test drill - a what if. This sparks her to remind him of his promise not to fight alongside them anymore. He assures her that while he's still the leader of The Heroics, he does from the safety of his desk.

WCBH Marcus Moreno Still

Marcus drops Missy off at school before going to Heroics Headquarters, where he is briefed on the incident that morning with Miracle Guy and Tech-No. He advises Heroics director Ms. Granada against sending two Heroics into the field, and shows her the full size of the alien fleet. She is astonished and orders a full-scale Heroics attack with the President of the United States approval. Marcus prepares to contact everyone when Granda insists that when she orders a Heorics attack it also means Marcus. He is solemn over this but psychically calls his katanas from the wall and into his hand, ready to suit up once more.

He takes the to sky where he joins the rest of the Heroics, though the teams in-fighting and rusty combat skills ultimately leads to the capture of each member. Marcus is the only one left and uses his bracelet to contact Missy, who emotionally reminds him of his promise. He knows he broke their deal, but tells her that a true leader leads by example. He tells her 'I love you' before unsheathing his blades and leaping into the alien attack. The aliens kidnap Marcus and take him to their mothership in the sky, where his kept in a cell alongside his other teammates.

The bickering within the team doesn't end in captivity, much to Marcus' chagrin. He even reminds the team that if they had fought the aliens like this they wouldn't be imprisoned. SharkBoy squares-off with Miracle Guy, though LavaGirl intervenes before the situation can escalate. Marcus asks them to stop fighting, so LavaGirl quips to Miracle Guy to act like he's on-camera. He responds that there isn't one, and it's liberating, so he can be his true self - and his true self doesn't like Marcus, SharkBoy, or LavaGirl. Marcus is slightly offended by the comment. A camera floats into the cell, and everyone stiffens while Marcus demands their release. The camera produces a hologram of President Anami, who informs the group that their children have escaped from headquarters and are missing.

The next time the doors open, a cloaked figure appears. Blinding Fast and SharkBoy trying to uncloak the person, as they want to see who is under it. They're thrown to the ground before they succeed. The person reveals herself as Anita Moreno. She shames the Heroics, including her son Marcus who greets her shamefully. She reprimands them for not training. Tech-No eventually turns on the security monitors, and they watch their children, who have boarded the alien ship to rescue them, fight their alien opponents. Marcus is full of pride and respect for his daughter's leadership skills. He shares his sense of pride with his mother.

He becomes emotional when he witnesses Missy walk across the beam that Noodles makes. She baits the aliens onto Noodles' arms and over a large pit. Marcus realizes she is leading by example and solemnly watches as Missy tells Noodles to remove the beam, allowing her and the aliens to fall. He is relieved when Noodles catches her before she can fall further. When the children succeed in stopping the alien takeover, the parents are freed from the pyramid. Miracle Guy stands proudly with his fellow Heroics. Ms. Granada tells the children that the takeover was never of Earth. It was the takeover of power from the current generation of Heroics to the next. When the events of the day passed, and the adult Heroics were allowed to cross the platform, Marcus patiently waits for Missy to finishing high-fiving her new friends before they're reunited. He remarks on her newfound friends and they make a new deal - that when Marcus goes into battle, Missy will be there with him. He proudly agrees to her deal.
